The light-emitting diodes, or as we know them as power-efficient LED light sources, have become an intelligent choice among the customers. The LED lights are relatively new and perform way more efficiently than the traditional ones.

LED Tube lights

Low energy usage and high-class performance have made LED lights an amicable choice among customers. For example, LED tubes are a perfect choice for interior lighting, and they cut down the energy costs by half for the indoors.

Let’s discuss the frequently asked questions over the selection of LED tubes over traditional fluorescent light mediums.

Questions

What are the advantages of choosing retrofit LED tubes over ballast compatible light mediums?

In recent times, most fluorescent tube owners are now choosing T8 LED tube light fixtures due to their durability and longer lifespan.

When you choose retrofits (ballast bypass), you can quickly reduce the heat generation of the fixture and make them energy efficient.

Keeping the ballast makes the fixture costly as they can face massive voltage surges and sometimes fail. In addition, constant replacement of the ballasts increases the maintenance cost of the fixture.

LED tubes are easy to install and are a good choice for prolonged usage. In addition, you don’t have to worry about the replacement of ballasts.

If someone has a T12 fixture, can they purchase T12 LED tubes?

The T8 LED tube lights to fix both conventional T8 and T12 tubes. The LED tubes are energy-efficient, and there is no need to change the tombstone of the traditional light mediums.

My fluorescent light fixtures are pretty old; can I use LED tubes with them?

If your traditional fixtures are in good condition, then you can install LED tubes.

The simplest option is to retrofit, especially the 8ft ones, as they are easy to install. Then, simply disconnect the wires running from the ballast and connect them.

You can also use the plug-and-play compatibles, which save you from the hassle of wires.

If I opt for retrofits, do I need to purchase other parts apart from the LED tubes?

The 8ft LED tubes do not require separate attachments, but you need to purchase new ones if the tombstones are broken.

The T12s also work fine with the retrofits. The 4ft LED tubes only require a one-sided power supply, so you need to do wiring on only one side.
